The Principle of Giving

The Apostle Paul thanked the believers in Philippi for their generous giving to help make ministry possible to others and ended his remarks to them by saying, “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)

Financial giving can be divided into three categories: tithes, alms, and offerings. The Bible teaches us that we worship the Lord with our tithe, which is ten percent of our income contributed to the church on a regular basis. When we feel called to give over and above our tithe, we do so as an offering. When we give to help those in need, this is called alms.
